Moving on to New Mexico

It's time to move on from Oklahoma City.

We actually stayed longer than I thought we would. The people at Moose Lodge #1235 have made us feel so welcome. We had some good times and made great friends that will be hard to leave.

Not to mention that it is hard to leave Katie and Baby Ayla. They are preparing to leave soon too. They are going to join Matt in Korea. And we thought we were world travelers! Ayla will have us beat and she will not even be a year old!
World traveler is in ones perspective or perception. Jamie was telling me funny grannie kids story. Their family was traveling in the car and the adults were discussing where different friends and family were traveling to. Middle grannie kid, Gavin speaks up from the back seat. "We know some world travelers...Aunt Debbie is going to Vegas and Grannie has been to Peanut Land!" Jamie and Aileen laughed because they knew he meant I had been to Plains, Georgia to visit Jimmy Carter. Too funny.

Friends Along Route 66

The best part of painting besides the joy of creating is the people we meet along the way. Dan emailed me photos from Easter Weekend that he took on his photo journey that day...Jon took the picture of the two of us. The other photos are paintings I did on that day at the crossroads location on Route 66. The last painting with the sign for Rock of Ages Farm in the left hand corner, I am taking to Sam who owns the farm. We met him at the Round Barn where he proudly gives tours to those who drop by. I just might have to paint that! Photos courtesy of Daniel Webb! Thank you!

Painting along Route 66

Easter weekend beautiful and sunny brings all of us out. I wanted to paint! So Jon and I cruised back along Route 66. Camped out on the corner in front of Sam's Rock of Ages Hay Farm. Jon put good tunes on the car radio and helped me set up easel, chair, water, paper towels ...all the needed stuff. I hardly got started and the parade of visitors began. This was a first for Jon, he had not realized that we would become an attraction! I enjoy meeting people, having them peer over my shoulder to see what I am painting. Had people stop on the road and yell across, "What cha painting?" For me that is a big part of the painting. I like to paint something that people pass every day and don't realize that it is beautiful. Suddenly, because someone is painting it, they see the same scene as a work of art and beautiful. Look around you...is there something beautiful you are missing?
